Our Expertise
With over 50 years of experience in debt recovery litigation, Croskerrys Solicitors has earned a respected position as a leading authority in the field. Based in Dublin, we provide tailored legal services to businesses, financial institutions, professional service firms, and creditors seeking efficient, compliant, and results-focused debt recovery solutions.
Our firm combines extensive legal expertise with a practical understanding of commercial pressures. We manage each case with professionalism, discretion, and a commitment to achieving the best possible outcome for our clients.
1. Pre-Litigation Recovery
We advise clients on the most appropriate course of action before legal proceedings begin. This includes issuing formal letters of demand, negotiating settlements, and advising on debt recovery strategy. In many cases, early engagement can result in prompt payment and reduced legal costs.
2. Litigation and Legal Proceedings
When litigation is required, we act swiftly and decisively through the appropriate court channels:
- District Court — debts < €15,000
- Circuit Court — debts > €15,000 and < €75,000
- High Court — debts > €75,000
We manage all aspects of the litigation process, from issuing proceedings to representation in court, judgment applications, and beyond.
3. Judgment Applications
Where a debtor fails to respond or defend a claim, we seek judgment by default. In defended matters, we represent our clients robustly at hearings to secure court orders for payment.
4. Enforcement of Judgments
Securing a court judgment is often only part of the process. We are highly experienced in enforcement actions, including:
- Instalment Order applications
- Committal Proceedings
- Attachment and Garnishee Orders
- Execution via the Sheriff
- Registration of Judgments Mortgages
- Publication in trade indexes
5. Tailored Debt Recovery Solutions
For businesses managing multiple outstanding debts, we provide tailored solutions including:
- Bulk file management
- Regular reporting and updates
- Dedicated point of contact
- Cost-effective fee arrangements, including fixed fees for certain services
Who We Work With
- Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs)
- Large corporations and national institutions
- Credit unions and banks
- Co-Operatives

At Croskerrys Solicitors, our expertise is not only in the law — it is in providing clear, reliable advice to help our clients recover what they are rightfully owed, while maintaining professionalism and protecting valuable relationships.
Debtor Information and Assistance
At Croskerrys Solicitors, we understand that receiving a letter or legal notice can be a stressful experience. Our role as a legal debt recovery firm is to act on behalf of our clients – usually businesses, financial institutions, or service providers – to recover money owed under contracts, agreements, or court orders. We are committed to dealing with all parties in a professional, respectful, and lawful manner.
Why You May Have Been Contacted
You may have received communication from our office because a creditor has instructed us to recover an outstanding debt. This may relate to:
- An unpaid loan or credit facility
- Overdue invoices or accounts
- Outstanding rent or service charges
- A court judgment already obtained against you
It is important not to ignore correspondence from our firm. Taking early action may help you avoid further legal costs or enforcement proceedings.
What You Should Do
If you have received a letter, email, or call from our office:
- Review the Correspondence Carefully – Read through the documents provided. They will outline the amount owed, the basis of the debt, and the actions being taken (or proposed).
- Contact Us Promptly – We encourage all debtors to engage with us. Our team will explain your options and guide you through the next steps.
- Seek Independent Advice if Needed – You may wish to consult a solicitor or financial advisor to review your situation and assist you in responding.
- Propose a Payment Solution – If you acknowledge the debt but are unable to pay in full immediately, we may be able to arrange a structured payment plan on behalf of our client. This is assessed on a case-by-case basis, and you should complete the attached Statement of Means (SOM). See our Debtor Information page for more details.
What Happens If You Do Not Respond
Failing to engage with us may lead to:
- The commencement or continuation of court proceedings
- Entry of a judgment against you
- Additional costs and interest being added to the original debt
- Enforcement actions such as wage/subsidy garnishment, publication of the debt, a Judgment Mortgage being registered against your property, seizure of goods, and/or Committal orders.

While we act on behalf of our clients, we will always treat you fairly and in accordance with all relevant regulations, including:
- The Code of Practice for Debt Collection (Central Bank of Ireland)
